Narendra Modi Re-Elected as NDA Leader Likely to Take Oath on June 9

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has re-elected Narendra Modi as its leader following the 2024 parliamentary elections. NDA allies, including Telangana's TDP and Bihar's JDU, supported the move. The support of TDP's Chandrababu Naidu and JDU's Nitish Kumar holds great significance, as their parties' support is vital for the BJP to establish the government. NDA has won 292 seats in the election, crossing the majority mark of 272. NDA ally HAM leader Jitan Ram Manjhi has said that the newly elected members of parliament will meet the President on June 7, with the oath-taking ceremony likely to take place on June 8. Leaders from neighbouring countries have also been invited to the ceremony, with confirmations from Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi leaders. Meanwhile, congratulations are pouring in from global leaders, including US President Biden, Russia's Putin, and the UK's Sunak.
